Well, tomanywolves convinced me to make the post this time--which will be linked over at her journal. Apparently, in her words, I am "better at explaining things".

First off--I'm doing well, and I've lived in this house for over a full year now. It's... different. But I need a new job--rising gas prices are one thing--but the job itself is no longer fun. So I've been searching.

Allow me to spell out the past two weeks, however, as they've been eventful, and many of you have been wondering what's been happening to us:

Sun - June 8: Recovering from sickness earlier in the week, I start a coughing spell, but otherwise I feel great.

Mon - June 9: I go to work--and start coughing loudly. Co-workers voice their concern over me during phone calls. tomanywolves, however, begins to feel ill, and her stomach began bloating, just a little. I again tease her she needs to lose weight.

Tue - June 10: My coughing is loud enough to scare coworkers. An emergency server replacement is dropped on my lap, and must be performed TODAY. Half way through, however, I am SENT HOME by my boss. Apparently, my coughing was scaring co-workers and clients alike. In any case, I finish my work via VPN from the comfort of my home. I'm still convinced it'll go down.

Wed - June 11: Once again, I work from home, still coughing but I feel fine. On our way to lunch to join my coworkers--tomanywolves's car decides to stall, and break down. Now it's starting to backfire, and the revs are starting to flutter--considering this happened right over I-565, I nearly panicked.

Thu - June 12: Working from home, I perform my scheduled server replacements. tomanywolves is starting to feel under the weather, and is complaining about pain in her lower abdomen. Her car also manages to shut down completely on us--later, we get it running and find out it was due to the electrical wiring, it was coming loose.

Fri - June 13: I manage to work, and I feel great. However, I begin coughing--some people even took notice of my post-sickness cough. And it was getting worse. tomanywolves, meanwhile, becomes ill, and is diagnosed with Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). Fun times.

Sat - June 14: My coughing is now even worse, and I'm starting to produce crud. tomanywolves's also not allowed in the heat--but her breaks need changing--pronto. We head over to budget breaks to get it done--they were under warranty. Whoops! Rotors are completely gone,a nd so are the CV joints. Time to change those! Our pockets are emptied. Still, we pass by Hobby Lobby and grab some flowers--which I place at my dad's grave for Father's Day.

Sun - June 15: The front and back yard is tackled with a borrowed lawnmower--and was defeated (barely). I've become convinced by tomanywolves to go see the Doctor for my cough--which is getting worse still. Monday is planned. I visit with tomanywolves's family for Father's day--and coughing becomes violently bad. In the evening, I attempt to assist tomanywolves with the jury-rigging of her car's electrical system. An hour's worth of work, and we fix up the cooling and electrical system.

Mon - June 16: I call in for half a day, and visit the doctor. At this point, my coughing spells have become violent--but I'm otherwise healthy. Bronchitis is suspected and found--but no Pneumonia. They give me enough medicine to knock a horse silly--and tell me to double my dose that first day. I work from home the rest of the day. tomanywolves's car, however, smokes and overheats on the way back from work--we think a head gasket was blown.

Tue - June 17: Down to one car, I let tomanywolves use mine, and carpool with a coworker, and begin making calls around different shops for quotes on engine repair, as well as fixing a long-standing oil leak. The numbers are NOT pretty. Meanwhile, tomanywolves is still under UTI medication. The evening after work is met with tomanywolves groaning in pain and doubling over--apparently a kidney stone was trying to play pong with her bladder. I spend the night (along with tomanywolves's parents) by her side, until she manages to sleep.

Wed - June 18: I carpool to work, and prepare for a server replacement on Friday. However, most of my work is distracted, as tomanywolves never passed the suspected kidney stone. She goes to ER that morning, and finds out she had an ovary cyst explosion, and had been hemorrhaging heavily for several days now (apparently, her body decided to one-up her car for blowing its gasket). One of the shops gives a price quote that we agree to. I finish up work, and AAA tows away tomanywolves's car that evening.

Thu - June 19: I work from home. tomanywolves, now bed-ridden, is under Doctor's Orders to be supervised at all times during recovery. The first part of the day is spent taking tomanywolves to the OB/GYN for a follow-up exam of ER's findings. Apparently the supposed "passing of a kidney stone" was the worst of the symptoms that tomanywolves would experience. She is to recover. Meanwhile, the shop begins inspection and work on tomanywolves's Camaro. I manage to barely get any work done, even from home--due to all the medicine, stress, work, and distractions. I think I feel asleep on my chair a few times.

Fri - June 20: Once again, I work from home, supervising over tomanywolves--who is still bedridden. Server replacement is performed nearly on schedule. tomanywolves is recovering, and needs less attention--but still requires supervision. The shop calls back about tomanywolves's car. It appears that the damage was not as bad as we though, and we only needed to pay $350 to fix it, rather than the $1300-$1800 we had originally estimated and suspected. On our way to arrange an Over-draft Protection Loan for tomanywolves, we find that her credit report has her mother's name attached to tomanywolves's SSN, which denies her any loan, even the automatic overdraft protection loans. I pay out-of-pocket to retrieve tomanywolves's car, with the help of her dad. Coughing spells have picked up, but otherwise subside when applied with hot tea.

What happened to me?:
We're still not quite sure what I was sick with earlier, but the bronchitis had been bad and persistent--and I've been stubborn. I was coughing for a week straight before I would do anything about it--and even got sent home because of my cough. For the most part, I've been busy taking care of myself, doing my job in the Server Team, doing my REGULAR job, taking care of tomanywolves, and taking care of tomanywolves's car. I'm exhausted. The bronchitis medicine has been doing its job--and I should be fully recovered by Sunday.

What happened to tomanywolves?:
tomanywolves suffered UTI, as stated above. This general "not feeling well" was coupled with medicine that kept her away from alcohol, heat, and exposure to bright lights. This meant I had to do more of the work outside--including fixing her car, or getting it fixed. The "Kidney Stone" never was--it was simply the cyst bursting at that time, which was the cause of tomanywolves's pain. The bloating was a result of the hemorrhaging before and after the cyst burst. She should recover by Sunday, and will have a follow-up OB/GYN visit on Monday.

What happened to tomanywolves's car?
We thought a head gasket had blown. And that the engine needed to be resealed to address its oil leak. What REALLY happened was the fuel system had clogged up from the gunk of dirty gas (leading to smoke, stalling, and dropping revs). A hose between the engine and firewall had burst (leading to the overheating and moisture in the engine intakes), the jury-rigged wiring to the cooling system was constantly coming off the battery, and the breaks had worn out the rotors and CV joints. All of this had to be addressed--and it's all been fixed now. The fueling system should be clean in two more weeks of constant use and cleaning.

What happens now? The elf goes to sleep.

Long story short: Larion died last Sunday. I need to have the German Shrunk and giant work desk gone from my mother's house this sunday morning. I'm out of funds, but I'll still have to spend more money to call POD over and get a unit delivered.

Good News...

Master Bedroom is finally painted
My "must have everything done" schedule has gone from "Next Thursday" to "Next Sunday". Whee.
U-Haul rental is apparently dirt cheap.
Today is U-Haul day.
I'm back on schedule (was falling behind, earlier).
I actually slept for 3 hours, yay!

Bad News:

The bedroom floor needs cleaning (water scrubbing should do)
the rest of the floor still needs tacks/rails/nails pulled
Said floor needs sanding, buffing, staining, and polyeurethane
Today is U-Haul day...and I don't have much help at the moment.
...I only slept for 3 hours...

Ugh, so busy. I really want to go to HAAS, the only "breaks" I've taken the past three weeks is two days of relaxing and light video gaming while the rest of my body screams in aches and pains. I wish I wasn't being so rushed on other people's schedules (My mother needing to sell her house, Esther's parents needing to move Esther's stuff in), so I could take real breaks, and go to HAAS. I've missed it the last 3 weeks or so, today may be the 4th (I hope not).

Buying a house has been one of those life changing experiences. I always had told my mother that I would buy and move into a house, since I was 15. I figured, back then, that I would live by my own rules, and the cost of home ownership was more or less cheaper than living from apartment to apartment... and more rewarding, to boot. As years passed, my mother eventually convinced me I was wrong.

I couldn't have been more right, I think.

Back during the Spring Break, A real-estate agent I had hired to help me look for an apartment (after a failed attempt over the winter) stated I would be better off buying a home. He showed me the math--he was right. Cost of ownership (by the month) is cheaper than rent (by the month) for the same square-footage. At least, here in Huntsville, it is. So, my spring break weekend was sent house-hunting. We eventually narrowed it down to four choices. One of which I thought was mediocre, one of which I liked, one of which I wanted to avoid, and the last of which looked bad.

The first one (nearly) visited was known as "Federal Blue". It was literally said-color version of my mother's house--which I grew up in. I wanted to avoid living in the same layout as before. As luck would have it, the house was QUITE valuable, location wise, and had four offers on the seller's table before I even got to it.

The second one was known as the "VA House". It was in a corner lot, with gray and tan paint. It looked... moldy. And small. It felt it, too.

However, small didn't even begin to describe the rooms of the house I liked. The Crestwood house turned out to be FAR more worked than I originally imagined. A brick home with hardwood floors, it had fallen into disrepair, needed serious redevelopment, and was far too close to the seedy areas of town than my agent felt comfortable with.

Then came the "meh" house. Outside, it has half brick, half veneer, and sported ugly white aluminum awnings. Once inside though, I couldn't help but go "wow" when I saw the layout. I didn't see the toys, I didn't hear the kid yelling, I just looked around and thought every room was described by one word: "TOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooy!" As we walked out the front door of this house, another couple came in to tour the house. I turned to the agent and said "Make an offer--now." One phone call later, we had an offer delivered to the seller's agent by the evening.

Closing didn't actually happen until the end of April. By the State of Alabama, I became approved for an FHA loan, which qualified me for 103% two-mortgage financing (97% at 5.5% Interest, 6% at no interest). Both mortgages are fixed-rate for 30 years. In fact, I had paid a little too much earnest money, and was given back change at the closing office. Odd. That change went straight into, well, a PS3, which I bought out of a strong desire to own a playstation ever since the PS2 came out. I've never owned one until then. I felt good after setting it up... the money never felt wasted. I quote this to "life improvement".

A month later, the sellers (then my renters) finally moved out, and handed me the keys. The utilities were turned off, the house was hot, stripped, and bare. My folks finally saw what I saw: An open layout with lots of possibilities, and nearly infinate potential. There were a few things that needed to be addressed:

The roof of the covered patio needs replacing.
The bedrooms, downstairs bonus room, living, and dining room, needs repainting (to fit taste)
The carpet in nearly all rooms had to be pulled (BEAUTIFUL hardwoods beneath!)
The hardwood floors needed to be bleached, cleaned, finished, and sealed.
All electrical outlets needed to be grounded and changed
The kitchen needs to be re-tiled.
Refridgerator, Washer, and Dryer. Buy them.
All the locks and knobs needed replacing (not just re-keying)
The 1980s Sears lightbulbs had to go.
Install a privacy wood fence
Install a pet door (two of 'em)

To date, I've bought a refridgerator (a gift from my mother), replaced the locks, keyed them by help of locksmith, changed all the lightbulbs to compact flourescents, pulled the carpet, turned on the utilities, and taped down a few rooms. There's still a lot of work to be done. Painting hasn't even started yet, and the only "furniture" in the house are tools and a cooler I sometimes use as a chair.

With tomanywolves and rumershard gone to camp, leaving me to work on the house alone. I've instead drafted help from tomanywolves 's parents. Work began last weekend (Sat. June 2) and progressively continued as best it could. With utilities turned off until 6/6/07, I could only work until dark. Sometimes, my body was so overcome with exhaustion, I did little work at all. I do not anticipate to fully move in until June 15, but I do expect to at least have the Master Bedroom done and furnished by June 9.

To those who read my Live-Journal, I am requesting help this Saturday and the next. Contact me if you can, and I'll provide directions as needed.

This Saturday will involve cleaning, painting, and general home improvements
Next Saturday will involve moving and unpacking ( I need pickup trucks and vans! )

Those of you that come in to help will be paid in food and beverage of choice. Those who want to come and just see the house are welcome to do so. There's a lot of work to be done, so mind the mess, and watch your step. ^^

By the way... does anyone know how to kill a weed with fern-like branches and leaves after the "mother plant" grows to the size of a tree? These root offshoots are threatening to take over my back yard.

EDIT: The plant has been identified as "Locus", apparently its a tree that propegates like a vine.

It's been a while since there's been an honest update. The year has been interesting.

tomanywolves and I have been dating for over a year. That's a feeling I can't quite describe. She absolutely loves me to death, and I appreciate and love her in return. My free-spirit nature, however, sometimes feels a little down. Hrm. As it stands, I'm happy.

Intergraph has hired me as a full time Tier-2 employee. I get a poor salary, but a really awesome benefits package, which helps, considering the following. Not long after I get hired, I fall seriously ill, and see the doctor. The insurance kicked in immediatly, which helped. Just yesterday, however, I had a root canal, this led to yet another tooth that will no longer be the same. I believe I am now wearing a total of 9 crowned teeth, with a 10th arriving. My 6 wisdom teeth are gone, and my jaw has seriously been altered. So many changes to my body--and I really don't like being "unnatural". Worse can be done, I suppose.

I also found a house, details and begging to be in the next post. It's located on 3203 Bluecrest. Other houses I looked at were too far, didn't feel right, required too much work, or were simply in the wrong neighborhood. Bluecrest lacks a few things I want, but has everything I need. This is good. I can't even begin to thank my Buyer Agent enough for all he's done for me. It's even funnier that he's my previous High School Vice-Principle! Turns out being a public educator was his side job. Weird. Very weird.

While my Agent handled the house-buying process, I did all the shopping needed: Checking and verifying my credit report (turns out I was dead for 9 years); arranging the best possible mortgage; arranging capital and deadlines to complete closing; budgeting; overall planning for my new way of life. I'm 24 years old, and I will have a house, and no debts, outside of the mortgage and school.

That reminds me, I need to head back to school.

I passed psychology. Major accomplishment. Now I have no worries about failing any class. Odd to think that Business and English became my favorite classes, and psychology became the worst one. Oh well. Now I have to find a new place to live. Hrm... That townhouse in SE huntsville is still a winner, but I should keep looking for other considerations. A slightly bigger living room/dining room is always a plus.

Hey folks, been a while since a real update.

For those not in the know: Yes, I am dating again. A wonderful girl I met at HAAS named Esther, better known as tomanywolves. In any case, we've been dating three months, and have gotten along swimmingly. Even our families like each other. Believe me, we're scared.

In anycase, this is indeed our first fight. I am happy this is the worst we can do to each other. Yet, the fact we fought over this is rather.... sad. Dear lord, I think I predicted this two months ago, too.

tomanywolves: QUIT DOING SHIT LIKE THAT!!!

Ahem... yes, well... without further adue, this is the log of us trying to explain it to one of our friends (we broke two others trying to tell them this story). Hell, tomanywolves's own father called us crazy by his standards. This made us cry.

silphion: She's upset that I won't game with music she can't stand cuz she's here, and won't jack off while she's sleeping cuz I think it's wrong to do so when she's five feet away
silphion: and by the same token, she just helps and follows me around while I do chores even though she wanted sit and eat blackberries with whip cream.

silphion: yeah, we thought you'd like that. Our first real "fight"
silphion: and it's over how nice we are to each other, and how neither of us will be selfish

tomanywolves: he tells me that he needs time to be himself (which means gaming, being a recluce, ect) and he won't do that while I am around but will not tell me to go and do my own thing (which I am willling to do by the way) because he "likes my company"
silphion: Yes, I know. It's pathetic. I'm pretty sure we're gonna sit and laugh our asses off about this next week.
